The 1st annual Kern River Run 2006
We hosted our first run in 2006 and although we did not get the turn out that we hoped for everyone one that went all said that they had a great time and would be back for next years 2nd annual Kern River Run.
First off I need to say that I had a feeling that the response was not going to be that great due to the short notice and lack of real advertising for the run. Unfortunately I didn’t advertise more outside the Antelope Valley area and I was competing with a local run that our local Harley Davidson shop was putting on and several others that were going on during that time including the “Big Bear Choppers Run.”
I started putting the word out in the beginning of August by posting flyers at our local Harley Davidson store and of course the local bars frequented by riders. I also posted the run on our original biker group on “Yahoo” called “Lifestyle Riders” and a local group called “High Desert Riders.” I even posted the run on “Quick Throttle Magazine”, but it didn’t get published until the Sept. issue. I then posted the run on our official web site here at “Lifestyle Riders.com” hoping that the run would get a good response.
I did however get some response from guys we ride with and others who were big fans of Patricia (In case you weren’t aware of it, Patricia use to have an adult web site and she still has a big following).
They all wanted to know if there were going to be girls there. They all knew Patricia has a way of making parties wild and they wanted to know if there was going to be other wild girls there as well.
I told them that if they went they would see some wild life at night and a few beavers for sure. What I didn’t tell them is that the beavers they would be seeing were actual “beavers” that I knew had a home at the spot we were camping at and were out every night. So I didn’t lie about the wild life at night.
The original plan called for me to take Patricia and two of her girlfriends up to the camp ground to hold the camping area for “all the riders” in our RV on Thursday and Friday and I would ride back to Lancaster on Friday night so I could meet “all the riders” on Saturday morning.
The two girls were going to keep her company and help save the spot. But they both dropped out due to one having to move that weekend and the other one’s boyfriend decided she shouldn’t go without him. So now Patricia would be all alone. Now I can only imagine what fun those girls would have had.
So due to the lack of response on the run and those that did respond said that they would just ride up by their selves on Friday night or Saturday I decided that I would stay at the camp site with Patricia and help hold the camping area.
I posted on the site that “if any riders were planning on coming to the run then they could either meet at the Lancaster Harley Davidson shop on Saturday morning and ride up or just ride up from wherever they were coming from. I posted maps of the route and of where the camp ground was.
Another part of this decision for my staying was that this camping area that we selected was one of the best spots on the river and we might have to fight for it. Patricia would be left by herself to hold the spot and was just going to be by her self.
Patricia was going to tell other campers who showed up that “they might not want to camp there because a bunch of bikers were coming and things might get a little R rated so to speak.” I thought that she might have her hands full doing this so that was another reason why I chose to stay with her. That and she has a tendency to prefer to lay out naked working on her tan which is great when I am around, but I would worry for her safety if she was alone.
Well for good or bad the run was going to happen no matter what. We rolled into Kernville late Thursday night so we decided to hit the three bars that are in Kernville to put the word out on the run. Hey what would it hurt and we knew that there were riders in that town. Plus we also knew that Kernville and Lake Isabella is a big bike ride area.
So Patricia and I stopped into the “Sportsman” bar which is one of the oldest bars there and as expected there were bikes parked out front. We ordered a drink and talked to the bar tender “Amber” and we told her about the run. She got all excited and said that it was a great idea and that she would make copies of the flyers I had and I even posted one on the bulletin board with the rest of the bike events.
From there we went to the “Kernville Saloon” which was a little busier then the Sportsman. It was a younger crowd and right off you could tell that this was a fun place. What was even better was that it was free pool night so knowing Patricia the way I do I knew we would be there awhile. Patricia loves to play pool and she is an excellent player.
Patricia has always made playing pool fun and exciting for those who she plays with both literally and mentally. The guys watching her play also find her pool shooting style exciting. She always wears something exciting. Now I don’t know if you call it fair, but she does enjoy distracting the other players. They don’t seem to mind for some reason.
Anyways, we got to talking with some of the locals and we told them about the run and they told us about this event coming up in Oct. called “Motorcycle Jamboree” (it will be posted in the events area). We were told that it was going to be the 1st annual event and that we should come and check it out. Well this we had to see and it had all the makings of an interesting bike event.
Now of course what story about Patricia being in a wild bar would be complete without saying that yes she did have some of her classic fun. While we were shooting some pool some of the patrons there could not help but notice that she was going commando.
Ever time she would take a long shot her already short dress would get even shorter giving the guys a little excitement. It got to the point where the guys were telling her to make the longer and harder shots just to get a peek.
What was really funny was when she played this one guy you could obviously see that he was leaving her shots that made her reach across the table. But Patricia was at her best that night and she won more games then she lost.
Patricia especially hit it off with some of the patrons who had told us about the ride and by the end of the night lets just say that they and she left with a smile and a great memory.
We ended up going to the other bar called “The Hut” but it was already closed so we left a flier for the run on the door.
We finally rolled into the camp at around midnight and we were first shocked then pleased to find that there was no one, not a sole anywhere in the camping area. Now usually all summer there is always someone camped out in “the spot.” We thought we would have to worry about someone camping there and having to tell them what was coming this weekend, but we lucked out.
We still knew that this was only Thursday and the weekend campers would be coming in late Friday and early Saturday.
We woke up Friday morning and set up camp including three tents strategically placed to give anyone rolling in that was not part of the run the idea that “the spot” was taken.
Now I need to paint for you why we refer to this place as “the spot.” If you have never been to the Kern River then you need to know that it is made up of a river known for it’s great white water rapids and fishing.
There is a winding road that follows closely to the river and there are a few government camp grounds where you have to pay a fee to camp in a paved parking spot that has a fire pit and a picnic table and quite time at 10PM.
It also has several open areas of land called “primitive” camping areas. These areas are sometimes rocky or sandy. Some have trees for shade and others have no trees except right along the waters edge. Some of these places have space for only a few vehicles. Some of these spots have places where the water is nothing but rapids and others that have deep swimming holes.
Then there are turn outs in the road that when the other places are already taken desperate campers pull off in them and hike down the hill to the water to camp hoping that no one crashes into their vehicles. The hike down can be hard but worth it because most of these spots do host some of the most awesome swimming holes along the river. The water is slow moving and deep enough to dive off the rocks. They can also be very private with a beach to themselves.
Rarely is there any “primative” place on the river that has a big area for vehicles, close to the water with sandy beaches with a lot of shade trees and deep swimming hole. “The Spot” is one of them. It is at “Calkins Flat” one mile south of McNally’s general store, restaurant and hamburger stand.
It looks deceiving from the road because it looks like a shadeless area with no beaches. But it has long sandy beaches with shade trees everywhere. This spot has several cozy little places to pitch a tent and be nearly all to yourself. All of this is out of view from the road so you can party in private.
The river current at this spot isn’t that strong this time of the year so you can swim without worrying about being taken down stream. There are rapids before and after the spot so it is great for tubing.
Here we were with the spot to our selves and we still couldn’t believe our luck. We set up camp and hung the “Lifestyle Riders” banner up to let the riders know where the spot was. Friday came and with no riders showing up we started to worry if anyone was going to come to this run.
We made the best of it by kicking it by the water relaxing in the shade and doing some fishing. Patricia worked on her tan and because this is such a secluded spot she could lay out naked and not worry about being seen from the road.
As I said before Patricia prefers to lay out with nothing on but a smile. She has been doing this since I have known her. It is just part of her free spirit I guess, hey who I am to complain.
While she went to work on her tan, I tied a rope across the river and tied some rafts to it so you can relax in the river without being taken down to the rapids even with the slow current.
We stopped worrying about the run and if anyone was going to show up and we just enjoyed the surroundings. We relaxed along the river with a cold one and our being all alone was broken every now and then by fishermen or a rafter who would come by. They would all get a little surprise of seeing Patricia in all her beauty.
Now if anyone knows fishing, calm and deep water is not the best place on a river for fishing. The trout are usually before and after the rapids. But for some reason the fishermen really worked this spot.
Even the rafters decided to stop at the spot to port and bail out the water in the rafts or take a break at the spot for some reason.
It is not unusual to go rafting on the Kern and see sights like this and it is all part of being out in nature. Patricia knows that for some guys this is a big part of the rivers appeal and can make coming to the river memorable. She is such a giver.
We were fortunate to really have most of the camping area (which is the size of 2 football fields) to our selves. The only other campers where two guys who were there fishing. They were the same ones who had come by while Patricia was laying out.
Patricia and I decided to go for a quick bike ride up to some cool spots up the river and over to Johnsondale since this was supposed to be all about the ride (well a big part at least). We left a message at our camp in case any riders did show up to at least let them know they were at the right place.
It was a awesome day for a ride and it was great to see other riders out as well. It was about 85 degrees out and the sun felt good on our faces as we rode along the winding river.
We stopped at some private little places that we knew about and took in the beauty and some pix to memorialize the moment. Then we were off again to some other quite little out of the way places that not to many people knew about.
The river looked inviting and we had wish we had brought our collapsible fishing poles with us to do some fishing, but we knew we had to get back to camp in case some one had shown up.
We headed back down the road to camp and as we rode past the river and forest we were reminded as to why we had decided to host this run. We thought it would be great to expose other riders who had never been here before to the awesome sights that the Kern River holds.
As we pulled into camp we half way thought someone would have shown up, but we didn’t see anyone there. We had to keep reminding our selves that this was our first event and we really didn’t do a lot of advertising.
Friday night came and by 9PM we figured that if no one was there by then, then no one was coming that night. Besides they would never find it in the dark. So we decided to go to McNally’s a mile up the road for a drink.
When we returned to camp, we saw that the two guys had a camp fire going and when we pulled in one of them came over to invite us over to their camp for some beers. Patricia told me that from talking to them earlier while she was laying out that they were nice guys so we took them up on their offer.
We did the introductions and we found out that they were from Long Beach and they had been coming up to the river to fish for a few years with a few buddies, but this year only two of them made it. We told them about the bike run and that we really were not sure what to expect number wise, but that we assured them that we wouldn’t get too wild and crazy.
Both of the guys were feeling pretty good and they remarked that if there were other women coming up then they had no problem with people getting wild and crazy.
Now I need to say here that when we left to go to McNally’s bar for a drink, Patricia dressed for fun as she always does. She was wearing a short jean dress that had buttons down the front to open it. Under the dress she had a white teddy on and she wore white thigh high hose with white high heel shoes.
Guys when I say that Patricia loves to dress for fun I do mean fun. Even if it is out in the wilderness. That is another cool thing about having the RV on some of these trips. She gets to bring fun clothes and she always looks great.
Any ways, her being dressed like she was did not miss their attention and they naturally commented on her attire for the evening. It was hard not to miss the fact as well that when she was sitting down the teddy rode up into her pussy and it left little for the imagination.
The guys asked us if we really were going to be partying hard this weekend. We told them that we hoped to and with that one of the guys got up and went to his truck and he returned with a home made beer bong. We all started laughing not only at the look of the bong, but that he carried it around with him.
As things usually do happen, one of the guys asked Patricia if she ever drank from a bong and when she told them she had they said that they didn’t believe her. Now I didn’t just get off the short bus and I knew what they were trying to do and I am pretty sure Patricia knew what they were doing, but she went along with it.
The next thing I knew we were all sitting around the fire doing shots from the bong. I don’t know if it was the setting, the company or the alcohol but this was one of those great funny moments. Here we were sitting around a camp fire on the Kern River with two guys we had just met drinking beer with my wife who was dressed for a wild night out on the town.
Naturally it had to happen and one of the guys once again commented on what she was wearing and they asked to see what she had on underneath. Now Patricia has never been shy and she loves to blow people away so this was an obvious invitation to her to show them just what she had on underneath.
To their amazed faces Patricia stood up and she slowly popped open one button after another until her dress was open in the front exposing a sexy white teddy to these strangers.
It got really quite as she did this and when she was done both of them gave a yell out letting her know that they were both pleased and surprised at her openness.
Now Patricia is in no way a tease and if she starts something she is ready to finish it. But in this case the guys were gentlemen and they just wanted to have some fun and that was just what was happening for everyone. Patricia posed for a few pix with them to prove to their friends who didn’t make the trip that this in fact happened and what they missed. It just goes to show you what you do miss on some of these trips.
Patricia and I called it a night and headed back to our camp with the sound of the guys hooting and hollering about what they had just seen and how their friends would never had believed them and what they missed.
Patricia and I hit the bed and she as usual discussed with me in depth of what might have been with her two new friends. We eventually did go to sleep.
Saturday morning came and the sound of motorcycles coming down the road gave us hope that riders were actually coming to this run. Unfortunately the bikes that steadily drove by the camp didn’t stop. We started to wonder if the riders were lost or were having trouble seeing the banner.
Finally two riders pulled in and asked if this was the spot. We told them that it was. The riders (Mike and “Knuck”) said that they had seen other riders heading this way, but they must have missed it. They told us that they almost kept going because they didn’t see the banner. We figured that the other riders would figure out where the spot was sooner or later.
Mike and Knuck helped me move the banner to a more visible place and then we headed down to the river where Patricia was playing in the water. Nude of course.
The first reaction of Mike and Knuck was surprise. Then after Patricia assured them that it was ok they relaxed along the river. Patricia talked to Mike and Knuck about where they were from and as always she made them feel even more relaxed. Mike got so relaxed that he decided to go for a swim. While Patricia and Mike enjoyed the cool water, I talked to Knuck about the run and how to advertise it better.
A short time later we heard some more bikes down shifting which was music to my ears. We walked up to the dirt parking area and I was pleased to see more bikes pulling in.
I met the riders (Tim, Mike, Claude and Debbie, Gary and Sandy and John). They were a little upset at the fact that I was not at the Harley store to meet them this morning. Unfortunately they did not see the update I posted on the web site. I totally understood their frustration and I appologized for not being there.
At first they were a little concerned when they only saw the dirt parking area and that there was little shade except for one big pine tree.
Then they all came down to the river and checked the place out and were pleased to see that this was in fact “the spot.” They told me that they were a little worried when they saw it from the road, but could see why we chose this spot.
Everyone met Patricia who was still swimming with Mike and when she walked out of the water John made the comment “now this is what I remember old school runs being like.” With that said everyone got into the old school way of thinking and relaxed and we all got to know each other more.
After the guys set up their camp we all sat by the river and had a cold one while discussing what all bikers discuss. Past rides, experiences and good times.
It only took a few minutes and it was clear to all of us that we all needed this ride and that coming here was a good thing. In talking and getting to know each other more we soon realized that we were amongst some good down to earth people.
During the discussion we all learned that this was John’s second time out since he lost his wife of 22 years in April of this year. He told me that “Biker” magazines latest addition (October 2006) posted a story on her passing and I told him that I was just reading the magazine earlier that day and he showed me the article. (See her story in the “Tribute to Fallen Riders” area).
We talked about his life with her and how close they were and I could see how much he missed her. John told me that when he saw that this run was going to be an old school bike run he decided to go. He said that he told some friends about the run and that it was going to be an “old school bike run.”
They asked him what an old school bike run was and he had to explain it to them. He said that most riders these days are weekend riders and don’t really know what a real biker is. They think that if they put a 100 miles on their bikes that they are “bikers.” He said that when you tell them that your going to an old school bike run they think it is going to be wild with bikers fighting and there is going to be rape, pillaging and plundering going on. So they get scared and decide not to go.
I had to laugh and agree with him that most people don’t understand what an old school bike run really means. To me it is about getting back to the basics. Riding, hanging out with old and new friends at places like this with no promoters and sponsors wanting your money and people running the event telling you what you can or can’t do. Just having a good time. Adults being adults and getting a little wild and free.
We all talked about why we came to this run and we all really got to know each other more and within a few hours we all felt as if we had a common bond and understanding of why we were there.
Tim saw the ride on a flyer and he told his buddy Mike (Straight Pipe Mike) about it and they told their co worker’s Claude and Debbie who live in Chula Vista about the ride and they decided to come out. They had been on a ride to the Kern River before along time ago.
Gary and Sandy saw the flyer at the Spur in Quartz Hill and they also decided to make the run.
John saw the flyer at the Harley Davidson shop and he decided to come when he saw that the ride was going to be old school.
We all had other riders that we knew who said that they were coming out, but backed out at the last minute. We all said that they missed out on a great ride and great company.
I had recognized Tim and Mike from past rides in the AV, but we never really met. Tim and Mike look like hard dudes who you wouldn’t want to cross paths with, but after talking to them it proves looks can be deceiving. They are both very cool dudes who just love to ride and have fun.
Claude and Debbie are a very nice couple. Debbie is a little shy, but can hold her own with the guys. She also has a great since of humor. Claude was the joker of the group and he enjoyed making you laugh.
Gary and Sandy are the kind of couple you could instantly hit it off with. Sandy is a little cutie and you could see that she has a wild child inside her. Gary is a very down to earth guy and he gave you that impression that you have known him forever.
John, well what can I say about John but he is a big guy with a big heart. He may look like a rough dude, but after talking to him you know he is the kind of guy who would give you the shirt of your back. I would love to hang around him and learn as much as I could about what being a real biker means.
John, if I didn’t say this to you over the weekend, I will say it now. I am sorry about not being there at the meeting place when I said I would. See you already taught me something. I am usually early then late and posting the change of my not being there for the ride out on the web site was not the best move. That won’t happen again.
Some of the guys went swimming while the others just relaxed on the beach. As time went by it was apparent that these were all the riders that were going to attend this run. It might not have been a big group you normally find at bike runs, but it was easier to get to know each other this way and It was then that we all came to an agreement that having a small and intimate group was better then a big one because it was easier to get to know each other better.
What was funny was that several of the riders were from the Antelope Valley and that even with our all going on rides in our area, our paths had never crossed. If it wasn’t for this run we may have never met and made a connection.
It was also apparent that Patricia was making a connection with one of the guys in particular. Maybe it was the fact that she was still sun tanning naked and he had positioned his chair where he could have a clear view of her lovely pussy which is shaved except for her landing strip.
If those of you don’t know by now, I am not the jealous type. Patricia and I are very much in love and I am secure in knowing that at the end of the night I know that Patricia and I will be together.
And if you also haven’t figured it out by now Patricia is an exhibitionist I am a voyeur which makes for a great relationship.
Patricia is very much Bi sexual which is great for me because I get to sometimes reap the benefits of two fun girls.
Patricia also knows that I am cool with her flirting and even playing with other men. We have a very strong relationship for more than 20 years and we know where the line is.
(Patricia will explain this better in the Riders Library area in the stories “What Is A Biker Lifestyle & About Us”).
We are open to fun things and we have an open mind toward sex. And if someone wants to flash or take their clothes off then hey go for it. It doesn’t mean they want to have sex with anyone. They are just expressing them selves in the moment and are having fun. Patricia is one of those people.
Does Patricia sometimes have a fun time with other men or women. Yes. It is only sex and it only happens on those occasions when everyone is on the same page and wanting to have some fun.
If another man finds Patricia attractive and wants to be with her then I take that as a compliment and I don’t get jealous. I found that jealous men only drive their women away and those relationships don’t last and often lead to cheating.
Maybe that is why Patricia and I like the biker lifestyle so much. Beisdes the freedom of riding, we believe in being open and free and that sex is a fun thing and not to be taken so seriously. We like to hang out with other riders that have the same philosophy as we do.
I think that David Mann really captured the biker lifestyle and it shows in some of his art work exactly how Patricia and I feel and live our lives.
Ok I am getting off track. The subject of Patricia and my relationship is a whole other story and it will be in the “Riders Library.” I just wanted to give you some back ground on why we are the way we are.
Lets just say I can tell that by the way Patricia was flirting with one of the riders that it was clear that fun was going to be had.
After kicking it by the river we all decided it was time to eat and Claude had his mind set on eating the legendary 40 oz stakes at McNallys. So we all decided to take a ride over to McNally’s for dinner.
The ride was short but the scenery was awesome as we rode along the river to the rustic restaurant. We all pulled up like riders of the old west to the saloon and it never fails to put a smile on my face to see people stop and stare when several bikes pull up somewhere.
Judging by the reaction to everyone just seeing the rustic looks of the restaurant and the setting of it surrounded by tall oak trees next to the river was all apart of the experience.
The restaurant inside is very rustic with old western miniature scenes in window boxes all around the bar and waiting area. It definitely adds to the atmosphere of the place. It has been around since the early 30's so it must be doing something right.
It was early and it wasn’t crowded yet which was a good thing judging by every ones hungry looks. While we waited for our table Gary was nice enough to buy a round of bloody mary’s for everyone who drank and soda’s for those who didn’t.
Now Patricia and I love bloody mary’s and these were great especially drinking them out on the front lawn of the restaurant with our new friends. It is amazing how something like a bike run to a place like this can bring strangers together and quickly find that you have so much in common.
As we were all sitting outside, I could see several smiles coming over the guy’s faces. Now I knew the drinks were strong, but I couldn’t believe the guys were feeling fine that quick. I wondered what they were smiling at during the conversation of riding and I could see that they had to be looking at something so I moved to where they were sitting. It didn’t take long to see what they were smiling at.
Patricia wore a short jean skirt and as she sat with the group across from the men you could clearly see that she wasn’t wearing any panties.
Ok for those of you guys who don’t already know, yes Patricia loves to dress to impress when she goes out even on a bike. She has said that another part of the biker lifestyle is that it allows her to dress the way she wants. That sometimes means being the bad biker girl. I think she also enjoys causing a little excitement where she goes to.
Our table was ready and we all went into order our dinner. Steak was the common choice with Claude actually ordering the Logger. He said he really just wanted to see what it looked like. We were all laughing thinking of the John Candy and Dan Ackroyd movie called the Great Outdoors where John Candy had to eat that big ass steak. We were picturing Claude doing the same.
After we all ordered we decided to go back outside and wait for our dinner. Now here is the funny part. Watching the guy’s jockey for position to sit across from Patricia. I had to laugh a little and Patricia caught it and took advantage of making sure that all the guys were not disappointed.
What was really cool and Patricia later told me was that the other girls did not get bent over her not wearing panties and the guys checking her out as inconspicious as they could.
Now I also need to say that alcohol is a funny thing. It truly brings out the inhibitions in people. Like I said before, Sandy has a wild child in her and it was coming out. It was fun to see her open up a little more and yes the other guys were enjoying it as well.
We all went in for dinner and I have to say that normally eating with strangers can be a little strange, but everyone looked and sounded like they were family over for dinner.
I have to agree with Claude that when his “Logger” arrived it wasn’t like we thought it would be. I think we all had this vision of a big ass steak covering the plate. It was actually a thick ass steak and it didn’t look like 40 oz’s. But as big as it was, Claude put it away and even had some of Gary’s and Debbie’s steak. Now that is a man after my own heart.
It looked like everyone enjoyed their dinner, I know I enjoyed mine and the company only made it better. Tim really stepped up with his generosity by his paying for every ones dinner which had to be over $200.00. He insisted on doing it and both Claude and Mike said that he is like that and that is that. I know I said this already, but thanks Tim. I got the next one.
We stopped off at the general store before leaving to pick up some firewood and other essentials before heading back to camp and no one can say that bikers can figure out how to haul stuff on their bikes.
We posed for some group picks and other fun pix by the bikes. The guys asked to have a photo with Patricia and Patricia loves to pose with the guys. Patricia gets a kick out of how guys act when they see some skin and she loves the excitement.
After the fun photos we all headed back to camp. We took our time down the road making sure we didn’t miss the entrance to the camp. The moonlight made the ride even more enjoyable.
Once at camp we got a fire going down by the river and this again is where the old school bike run comes into play. There is nothing better then sitting around a fire and really getting to know someone.
I learned that Mike is a musician and plays in a band. I also learned that I am not the only one who tells bad jokes. I did hear some of the best jokes in awhile and I only wish I could have remembered them all for the web sites “jokes area.”
Every topic was discussed from Politics, Religion and of course every ones favorite, Sex. What was really nice was that usually those topics can get a little heated but for some reason when bikers discuss those topics there is always a common thread.
We even roasted marsh mellows and Mike and John treated us to a song.
The long day took its toll first on Gary and Sandy who had to ride back to McNallys where they rented a trailer to spend the night in and then Claude and Debbie called it a night.
When it was time for all of us to call it a night, Patricia decided to really make it an old school run by stripping naked by the fire and showing the guys how appreciative she was for making this a fun run.
No, she didn’t have sex with everyone. She just had some fun with them and not in a teasing way. She has never been one of those. She finishes what she starts. I will say that she personally thanked Tim for dinner.
When morning came, Mike made coffee for everyone, which was fun to watch. I have never seen a person drink so much coffee and I mean right from the boiling pot.
Eventually camp was broken down and it was time to leave. We all agreed that even with the low turn out this was a fun and memorable run. Debbie said that it wouldn’t have probably happened with a larger group.
Tim had found a small piece of drift wood that we all signed saying that we can show everyone next year and the years to come that we were the first.
I have a feeling that next years might be bigger with word of mouth and more advertising, but it won’t be like this first one.
Thanks to those riders who did make it to our 1st annual Kern River Run and to those who didn’t make it this year, put it down on your calendar for next year.
Like most first events they don’t turn out as well as one would hope in the way of numbers showing up. A lot of people didn’t get the word about the ride and as in everything new, riders didn’t know what to expect. Especially when it comes to camping in a place they have never been before.
A lot of riders are not into sleeping in a tent or under the stars. They prefer to hotel or RV it. Some even didn’t really understand what the term “Old School Run” actually meant from what John (who can actually say is old school) told me.
Hopefully this story will help explain what the term “Old School Bike Run” means now.
Your host,
Mark & Patricia
