Kern River Run Updates

Dated 10-26-11

There are some new changes for this years 2012 run. Those changes are in red text. Also check our Face Book Link.

For the 7th & 8th Annual Kern River Run, Patricia & I will not be able to attend & host our run. We will be traveling across America going to other Bike Rallies.

The Run is still going on thankfully due to our friends Dale n Lisa accepting our request for them to host our run until we get back in the area.

They will be helped by other friends and the run should not change in any way from past runs.  This will always be a FREE event.

Those riding from the Lancaster H.D. dealer will be stopping to get fuel at the gas station just off the 14 frwy at the California city off ramp to top off for bikes with smaller tanks .  We will then stop in Kernville at the James Store to top off for bikes then head to the camp which is 14 miles away from James Store. The distance from that gas station in California City off ramp to Kernville is only 78 miles. I have been asked if there are any dirt roads. None at all.. The campground is just off the paved road. There is 10 yrds of hard packed dirt to park your bike for those concerned about their shinny bikes or inexperienced dirt riding. The roads are all paved.

If you need supplies you can come back to the James Store or go to Mc Nallys general store. We do not want to stay long at James Store. Most riders want to get to the campground and start partying.

(Please fuel up before meeting at the Harley Dealer). You can check in before 8am to let us know your going to fuel around the corner at several gas stations off the 14 frwy and Ave. K. We just don’t want the group waiting for one rider who thought we were all gonna fuel together in Lancaster before riding out. Kick stands up at 8am to head out.

If your coming from the Ridgecrest area then you will want to get gas there or If your coming from the north on the 395 then you will want to fuel in Pearsonville off the 395. The distance from the Shell gas / Subway station in Pearsonville to Kernville is 60.3 miles.

Per the request of the riders from past runs, NO PETS PLEASE.  Someone brought two dogs last year and they were running lose.  No one wants a cold nose in their crotch, especially the naked girls and no one wants to step in their little gifts they leave no matter how damn cute your dog is.

Please ask the ladies for permission if you want to take a photo of them.  It is the respectful thing to do and it has helped keep this run drama free.  Trust us, 95% of the girls are cool with you taking their photo and are happy for your thinking they are photo worthy.. But that one may not, as well as their significant guy. And yes those shinny beads are still a nice way to say thank you.

We are once again looking for some firewood. If anyone wants to bring up firewood that would be great.  We always can use it for the parties around the camp at night. Remember all those kind deads don’t go un rewarded by the ladies.

We have already gotten numerous calls and e-mails on this years run with riders letting us know they are making the run. We even have single girls coming up guys.. So once again it should be a fun run.

Some girls maybe looking for a ride so don’t forget to post in the forum that you have an empty seat and ladies do the same by letting the guys know your looking for a ride. We are also on Face Book & girls are posting there for a ride as well. see the link to our Face Book below.

Every year Patricia & other riders have come up with ideas for entertaiment for the run. For those of you who have made the past runs then you know what I am referring to.  Ideas for entertainment for 2012’s event is already being tossed around.

There will once again be riders up on the river early to help set up the campground. Our friends Dale & Lisa & others will be there on Tuesday (the day after Labor Day).

We have a couple riders coming up early as well to meet us there to get a jump on the run and fun. They have graciously offered to help hold the spot for the weekend party. The campground is a pretty big area but, it is still open National Forest land and we have to let non biker campers know there is a biker party there for the weekend and it helps if the place looks lived in.  We have been fortunate every year to have the place to ourselves. So if anyone wants to come up early they are welcome to do so.  The more the better.

Those making the ride out from the Lancaster Harley Davidson Dealer, please be there around 7:30am. Kick stands up or A.I.S. (Ass In Seat) at 8am for those who able to make the run to the campground. Remember anyone can ride up to the campground anytime from anywhere. Just check the map and directions on the Run Information page.

They will be picking up riders along the way.  They will not be stopping, so just fall in with the pack.

The town of Kernville is 14 miles from the campground. There is a grocery and sporting goods store along with a gas station at James store in Kernville. There is also a general store a mile from camp at Mc Nallys.

If you need supplies you can come back to the store or go to Mc Nallys general store.

If you are planning on meeting for the ride out Friday morning at the Harley dealer then please contact us so we know to look for you. “PLEASE FILL UP YOUR TANKS BEFORE WE HEAD OUT.” Riders shouldn’t have to say that but...

If you are planning on riding up at another time then please check out the map at the runs information page (previous page).

There are also hotels in the area and you can find them on the same information page.

Due to several request we are allowing RV’s and Toy haulers on the run. We understand not everyone is a camper or tenter. Plus we have found that allowing RV’s means more girls will be going. Patricia and I will be tenting it during the run. If you do bring an RV or Toy Hauler please park them at the south end of the main camp or up on the upper parking area south of the camp. The main area is for bikes only.  The only RV that will be parked in the bike area will be the hospitality RV. Remember this is supposed to be a bike run but, we understand some needs of riders.

There are lots of places to ride to along the river and into the giant sequoia’s. The town of Kernville is a cool old western town with a lot of history for those into that they can ride there and check it out.

As always NO VENDORS ALLOWED. If you show up you will be shown the road.. Every year we get offers from vendors wanting to sell stuff and take riders money.. Every year the riders have spoken.. We don’t want any vendors on this run.

The host will be supplying the following stuff complementary to riders:

Music for everyone’s taste Classic Rock and even some Country on request.

Electricity for those who need some juice for what ever reason ( we will not have the generator on long but for only necessary things).

Water toys (rafts and inner tubes)

Free coffee and rolls Sat. and Sunday morning.

As far as food and drinks, the following is available: (sorry not complimentary)

Friday you can go to Mc Nally’s or the hamburger stand. You can even take a great scenic ride into Kernville 14 miles away to eat at many of their restraunts.

The Hamburger stand opens at 9am for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It closes at 5 pm.

There is a general store at Mc Nallys. (They do not sell hard liquor or meat). The James store in Kernville is a full service store.

There is no phone reception up at the campground depending on your service.

There are restrooms at the campground.

If anyone has firewood they would like to donate then please contact us.

Anyone who helps out in a big way is usually rewarded some way or another. Thats what bikers do for one another..

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us at contact@lifestylerider.com or at our Forum or call us at (661) 373-0347

Patricia has come up with a new type of entertainment for this years 2011 KRR.  To check out what it is please click on the link below

To stay in touch with riders better we are now on Face Book. It seems there are a lot of riders using this social network so we created a profile to stay in touch.  You can click on the link below to access the profile.

Remember if you want a Kern River Run Shirt or Shirts from the past years or lots of other stuff please click on the below link. We will not be selling any shirts at the run since this in a no vendors event. (The $2.00 we get from each purchase goes back to the site to keep it alive).
